Critic Review: "The 2016 Three Finger Jack Cabernet Sauvignon has a lot of good things going on in the aroma including rich dark berry fruit, spice, mint, violets and more. Taking a sip reveals a big, rich wine with tons of juicy dark fruit and plenty of varied spice notes. It's a bit sweet but really tasty. In fact, it almost tastes more like a big Zin than a Cab, but either way this one should be popular. Slightly chewy tannins lead into the spice filled, dry and long finish." - Jon Thorsen on Reverse Wine Snob
Wine Folly: Wine Folly indicates black cherry, black currant, cedar, baking spices, and graphite as primary flavors of Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium dryness, a full body, and medium-high tannins are also expected. Three Finger Jack's Cabernet Sauvignon is loaded with tastes of black cherry and cedar. It was also very rich from its full body. The tannin level of this wine also aligned with Wine Folly's profile of the variety.
My Review: I do not usually drink red wines, so Three Finger Jack's Cabernet Sauvignon was my second red wine I have ever drinken and my first Cabernet Sauvignon. I was intimidated by its dark violet color and high alcohol level (15%!), but I was surprisingly impressed by its smoothness and silkiness. This Cabernet Sauvignon went down more easily than some dry white wines I've had! This wine was rich in tannins and tasted like dark berries and cherries. I paired this wine with ribeye steak and it was delicious. Three Finger Jack's Cabernet Sauvignon was a great introduction to Cabernet Sauvignon for me and I would purchase it again.
